Rebecca Minkoff is one of our role models when it comes to designing the life we love. Her business and success is a testament to the power of hard work, consistency, passion, and innovation.
Rebecca started off with an idea to start a fashion brand when she had very little resources and was living in her tiny NYC apartment. After saving up and partnering with her brother on the financial side, Rebecca Minkoff the brand was born. But it did not achieve overnight success. Though the brand had a few “big break” moments, Rebecca had to continually work hard to make her work known.
Rebecca not only worked hard to make beautiful handbags, but she never stopped dreaming of ways to grow. Just take a step into the gorgeous Rebecca Minkoff Flagship Store in SoHo. You are greeted with clothing, shoes, iPhone cases, accessories, and of course, handbags. Rebecca took one idea and ran with it–she didn’t settle for just making one thing, she instead found ways to make a well-rounded fashion empire that can continually expand.
We are so thankful for Rebecca’s example and support investing her time into the students and mission of My Social Canvas. Rebecca not only supports our mission, but she and her team have regularly shown this support by judging MSC designs, hosting our students during our Design the Life You Love job shadow days, and providing advice in different aspects of the world of entrepreneurship. Rebecca even invited one of our Campus Reps, Madeline, behind the scenes at fashion week last fall. Madeline got the chance of a lifetime: she helped Teen Vogue's Social Media Team interview Rebecca and heard firsthand about her inspiration for the fall 2016 collection.
Thanks for being a wonderful inspiration for My Social Canvas, Rebecca! Your commitment to designing a life you love continues to motivate us!
